People ask, do you see the glass half full,
or the glass half empty?
Some of us are just glad to have a glass.
And some of us have a bottomless glass. What then?
The day after I wrote the following piece on Falling,
my friend Steve jumped from a parking garage to his death.
I
struggle with trying to understand why he did that.
He hurt a lot of people. I do not believe that he was hurting
so much himself. So, we are left with a mystery.
I hope
it wasn't a mistake. It's one mistake you can't make right.
We can get up into the air,
but we can't fly. All we can do is fall.
We can slow our fall, pretend to fly,
and safely,
but we are falling.
But, everything is falling.
The moon in falling into the earth.
The earth is falling into the sun.
The sun is falling into the center of the galaxy.
The Universe is not expanding.
It is falling.
Falling apart or falling into place.
Falling in love or falling from grace.
We are falling.
"I like it when something is put
back in my lap...
It empowers me. It is mine to deal with."
One never gets used to insane behavior.
"It" doesn't get better. We get better
at dealing with "It".
If everyone else would work a program,
I wouldn't have to.
Inch by inch, it's a cinch.
Yard by yard, it's hard.
"Nurturing the child within" only
works when the child is within.
Sometimes the child still lives on the outside,
trying to kill the ADULT WITHIN that needs to have its life.
At least pretend you enjoy what you are doing.
Tony said it , and it was like a knife
through my heart.
Talk about your archetype! Mine to a tee.
You are good enough by default.
You have everything you need to do what you said you would do.
"No one comes unto the Father but by
me". Which is to say,
"but in the way I have done it".
And that way is to be true to yourself.
To be true to doing what you
said you would do, what you agreed you would do.
There is only one way, but that means
there is only one way for YOU.
Each must find his own salvation.
My goal each day is to live with a kinder
heart
and a more noble purpose.
No one is better than anyone else.
An amends worth making is worth making grudgingly.
If it's worth doing, it's worth doing even badly.
Some times the substitution of a word or two
in a prayer can make it more meaningful.
For instance, when I was so sick, I prayed,
"Give us this day our daily health."
When I went through bankruptcy, I prayed,
"Forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors."
Today, my prayer is this:
Our Father, who art in heaven,
Hallowed be your way.
Your kingdom come,
Your will is done
On earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily truth,
And forgive us our forgetfulness,
As we forgive others their forgetfulness.
And leave us not into stinking thinking,
But deliver us from illusion and fear.
For yours is the kingdom, and power, and glory,
Forever.
And so it is.
"Are you married?"
"No, I'm not married, but I am engaged."
"Oh, really! When's the wedding?"
"The day after same-sex marriages become LEGAL !"
